Sendhelp2Haiti is a response to the enormous internationally coordinated effort to aid Haiti in the aftermath of the devastating 7.0 earthquake that struck the island nation on Jan. 12, 2010. Around the world, many of us stood in horror as we have watched on our TVs and computers reports of the recovery efforts. We have read stories describing the unimaginable suffering of the Haitians. We hear the wailing cries of thousands who are seriously injured or facing the terrible fate of loved ones.

We cannot look away. We cannot cover our ears. We cannot ignore the pain. Millions have wondered how to help. And millions have responded, texting donations through various channels and giving online to respected charities. Many, many organizations are marshaling their resources to aid those left seriously injured and desperately in need of essentials. And many, many individuals are coordinating efforts to raise money and supplies to send to Haiti. We know the power of the human spirit to give  in even the darkest time.

Although the response to the crisis was swift and massive, we know Haiti’s needs will continue long into the future. Sendhelp2Haiti is trying its best to document one of history’s biggest humanitarian efforts of all time. We will keep you informed of the work being done to rescue, recover and restore Haiti in the days weeks, months–and no doubt years–ahead.
